Product Description:

The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor measures the intake manifold pressure. It is usually installed on the inlet manifold near or on the throttle body, and provides the ECU with information about the pressure inside the intake manifold. Based on this data, the ECU can make accurate calculations about the air density and the appropriate air-fuel mixture, as well as adjust the engine’s fuel injection pulse and ignition timer.

Apart from its use in combustion process, the MAP sensor can help diagnose performance issues in the throttle, check for air leaks in the intake manifold, and is also used to convert its signal into air mass by the means of data collected by the Engine Speed and Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensors.

The MAP sensor is an essential part of On-Board Diagnosis (OBD) II cars, as it provides help to test the efficient functioning of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation or EGR valve. It acts as a backup for vehicles with a Mass Airflow Sensor as well, to monitor the EGR state.
