MAP Pressure Sensor |
1 Year Warranty Intake Air Pressure Sensor with 1m Cable Length
A Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor measures the pressure of the intake manifold. It is generally positioned in or next to the throttle body in the inlet manifold. The MAP sensor captures intake manifold data which is sent to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) to calculate air density and fuel mixture for smoothed combustion. Additionally, the ECU utilizes this information for engine load monitoring, fuel injection pulse measurement and ignition timing adjustment.
Moreover, a MAP sensor can be used to troubleshoot throttle performance issues and detect a vacuum leak within the intake manifold. The MAP sensor signal can be transformed into air mass data making use of engine speed and Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor data. Besides, it is also used in OBD II vehicles to assess Exhaust Gas Recirculation or EGR valve functionality, and as a backup for detecting EGR valve problems in vehicles with a mass flow sensor or MAF sensor.
Common causes for Pressure Sensor failure are contamination, clogging, electronics overheating because of intense engine heat, and vibration damage from extended exposure to the engine compartment. Some of the signs of a Pressure Sensor breakdown are difficulty starting or poor starting, detonation or misfire, fuel over consumption, minimal engine power, and Check Engine Light illuminated.
