12V Flex Fuel Sensor 0.45kg 1 Year Warranty
The FFS is intended for operation in North American/South American/Southeast Asian countries that use a blend of gasoline and ethanol (anhydrous and/or hydrous ethanol) fuel for vehicle operation. The FFS is a component in the Fuel Storage and Handling Subsystem. The FFS will determine and report the percent total ethanol of the fuel.
Ethanol content is dynamically updated in ECU in order to adapt engine parameters to operate with the new fuel. This will help to avoid potential damages to engine and components due to wrong ethanol content.
Installation at any location on chassis from fuel tank to engine compartment including engine mounting, with environmental temperature restricted to +125°C maximum, -40°C minimum. Sensor must be installed in the low pressure side of the fuel line. Fuel can flow in either direction through the sensor fuel tube (measurement cell). It is also recommended to install the sensor after the fuel filter, to eliminate any larger particles in the fuel from plugging the sensor.
If sensor is installed in return fuel line, customers should consider draining of line when vehicle is turned off, which will result in a delay in correct signal output until fuel has reached sensor. Depending on available free space to install the sensor, Bometec has learned from other customers the following: Sensor horizontal installation, whereby some customers are mounting sensor at slight angle, to avoid entrapped air in the pipe. Alternatively, customers can choose to use the sensor vertical installation, but then they should take into consideration that fuel volume vs temperature change will change the fuel head pressure, which affects output signal.
