3.2cmX2.3cmX1.2cm Wheel Speed Sensor Response Time 2ms
A Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor measures the intake manifold pressure. This is typically located near or on the throttle body. The sensor sends signals to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) for the ECU to calculate the air density and adjust the air-fuel mixture during the combustion process. This information also lets the ECU measure engine load, fuel injection pulse, and adjust ignition timings.
Having the MAP sensor in the systems provides other advantages too. It helps in diagnosing throttle performance issues, can be used to check the vacuum leak on manifold, and lets the ECU convert signal into air mass sample with the assistance of the engine speed and Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor data. For cars with ODB II systems, the MAP sensor works alongside the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. It is also used as a back-up for vehicles with the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAS), in order to monitor the EGR valve.
However, the MAP sensor can also suffer from various problems. Common causes of a MAP sensor failure include contamination, clogging, electronics damaged from intense engine heat, and vibration damage from prolonged exposure in the engine compartment.
Failure of a MAP sensor can cause several symptoms such as engine not starting, detonation, misfire, lack of power, and high fuel consumption. In some cases, a Check Engine Light will also activate.
