5V Stainless Steel Car MAP Sensor Automotive Vacuum Pressure Sensor

Product Description:

A Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor is a device that measures the amount of pressure within a car's intake manifold. It is usually located either beside, or directly onto, the throttle body. The intake manifold pressure that the MAP Sensor gives to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) is used by the ECU to calculate the air density and adjust the air to fuel ratio being used for the combustion process. This enhances the car's performance since the ECU can adjust the engine's load, fuel injection pulse to control the rate of fuel entering the engine, and modify the ignition timing.

Apart from such general uses, MAP sensors can also be used to diagnose a car's potential throttle performance issues, check for a vacuum leak in the intake manifold, figure out air mass measurements through recordings of engine speed and Intake Air Temperature, as well as provide a backup when testing the working condition of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation or EGR valve in vehicles with mass airflow – MAF – sensors, which tracks air density and volumetric air flow.

Common causes of a MAP Sensor Failure include being contaminated, clogged, having electronics damaged from the intense heat generated by the engine, or vibration damage from prolonged exposure to the engine compartment. Some symptoms of a faulty MAP Sensor include an engine that will not start (or starts poorly), detonation or misfire, excessive fuel consumptions, lack of engine power, as well as an illuminated Check Engine Light.
